HAPPY 30th JASON!

Well it's official, my Fiance is old! Jason turned 30 on the 18th and me being the amazing and completely un-modest Fiancee that I am, threw him a FANTASTIC surprise birthday party!

I am still a little shocked that no one spilled the beans on the surprise, including myself!!! I almost let it slip out on numerous occasions! It's so hard to keep something you are spending all of your personal time on a secret from the one person who knows every detail of your daily life!!!

The party was a huge success, all of the family and friends that could make it were there, everyone seemed to laugh and eat the night away! We had a ton of food and thanks to MomR Jason had a birthday cake I am sure he will not forget...She made him a PS2 cake with an edible remote!!!!! It was amazing and completely blew everyone away! I got a surprise of my own...Jason's parents had turned my birthday surprise for Jason into an engagement surprise for the both of us :-) As we had not gotten to officially celebrate our engagement yet, it was very special. MomR had made an amazing red velvet 3 tier cake and they had champagne to toast us with! In addition we received a few gifts that were so heartfelt that I was a pile of mush from the second the cake came out of hiding...Both cakes were so good that I cannot wait to see what she comes up with for our wedding cake!!!

For the record, I do not believe 30 is old or that J is old...It has been a running joke between Jason and I since we started dating that he was old as he is 2 years older than me (well we are actually only 1 year and 3 months apart, but thats a minor detail)...In all honesty, I can't wait to grow old with him...I can't wait to see what the next 30 or 60 years bring us together...I just hope in 30 years he is still laughing and smiling as much as he did last weekend cause we all know I am going to throw him one hell of a 60th birthday party :-D

I have to thank everyone again for coming and making last weekend so special for both myself and Jason! I especially have to thank MomR, without her I wouldn't have been able to pull it off!

Happy 30th Birthday Jason, I love you more than words can ever express!!! Luviss and Huviss baby :-D

LONG OVERDUE!

No I am not talking about my library books, I am talking about my engagement announcement!!!

I honestly can't believe it has taken me 2 months to the day to make this post, but here it is...

Jason proposed to me on September 3, 2011 while we were on vacation in Massanutten, Virgina!!!!! I was so completely surprised, I didn't even clue in that he was trying to propose! I am not always the sharpest knife in the drawer :-) I wouldn't change a single detail about Jason's proposal...It is a moment I will never forget...It was just the two of us, in a gorgeous condo at a beautiful resort and he even did the down on bended knee (well he tried to, I kinda ruined that...again I didn't realize what he was doing). Although, I think Jason could have asked me at my apartment while I was sick as a dog and I still would have thought it was the most perfect and romantic moment in the world!

Two months later and I think I am still the happiest girl in the world! I know it sounds corny, but the ring signifies so much more to me than just a promise to marry...To me it means he chose me to spend his life with, he chose me to be the mother of his children and he chose me to take his name. I thank God everyday for Jason. He is honestly 'one of a kind' and I love him more today than I did yesterday and I will love him more tomorrow than I do today. And I am not just saying that cause my ring is GORGEOUS!!!!

I have to admit we have amazing family and friends who made the proposal and the memories even better! Although we spent hours on the phone contacting the immediate family and best friends to share our great news all of the love and excitement we felt was so incredibly special that it made the long distance bill totally worth it!

The one question we got most two months ago and are still getting today is...when's the big day??? unfortunately with Jason still being in NY (although we have made progress, there's no decision made on his immigration visa) we are unable to pick a date. We are really hoping for fall 2013, but that all depends on when J can get here and we can officially start planning.

I have to warn you all that since J "put a ring on it" I have become way more of a romantic and I have become completely OBSESSED with EVERYTHING wedding, so there will be many a posts about how much I love J and our wedding!

If any of you have any wedding advice I would love to hear it, like I said I am obsessed :-)

Ouchie!

Tonight I did something I have never done before and at the moment only my butt is regretting it!

Justine and our friend from work Paula invited me to a spin class at the gym down the street from our office...I was very very hesitant...Even when I was working out regularly I wouldn't have thought that a spin class was a good idea! After a lil bit of convincing from Jason, Justine and Paula, I decided to give it a shot...

To put it nicely...It wasn't pretty...My legs cramped at the start, my foot kept slipping out of the strap and when I finally fought threw the pain and hit my "groove" I was red faced and sweating like a pig! I am not sure how I am going to sit at work tomorrow because my butt hurts so bad right now from the darn bike seat! You would think with the amount of cushion back there that I would have had no problems :-)

I am sure when I can walk and sit again (I am thinking Friday or Saturday) I will happily admit that all of the pain was worth it...I had fun with the girls and I think tonight gave me the push I needed to get back to my regular workout routine...I might even give the spin class another shot...

Thanks for hauling my butt to the gym Paula and Justine!

March Break...

Today as I was driving home from work I was reminded of March Break 2001, which happened to be the last march break I ever had...

Everyday on my way to and from work I drive past the University of Waterloo (the university I attended)...During march break UW holds an open house so that potential students can visit the university with their parents to ensure it is the school they wish to attend for the next 4 or 5 years of their life...So today as I am driving home I see University Avenue filled with teens and parents running around, looking at maps as most were probably lost and I remembered the day I toured UW...

My experience was probably a whole lot different than the one those kids are having today...10 years ago (give or take a day or two) I packed up my crappy car (I am still shocked to this day that the 1985 Tempo survived the trip!) and made the trek to Waterloo alone to spend a few days with Rob and Sandy, at the time Sandy was working and Rob was finishing his last semester of school...So instead of the normal day on campus with your parents and a tour guide, I had my day on campus with my big brother...Rob took me all around campus, showed me class rooms, cafeterias, dorm buildings, the library, the bookstore and the bars (I was underage so I didn't get the full tour of those)...

From that day on I knew UW was where I HAD to go to school, not only because its an amazing school, but I had to be close to Rob and Sandy...Not sure I woulda survived university without them in my corner!

In Memory of...

Yesterday marked the 2 year anniversary of a very special woman's passing...Grandma Figueira (Jason's Grandmother)...I have been thinking all day of what to post, but I can't find the words to express what I am feeling...So I am going to use the words I look at everyday on her memory card...

God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. It broke our hearts but proved to us, God only takes the best.

Christmas is a comin!

I am currently baking turtle cookies, drinking egg nog, watchin Elf (love that movie)...Let me ask you...Could life get any better!?!?!

I am so excited for Christmas...Jason arrives in the evening on the 22nd, I only have a half day of work on the 23rd, then we are off to Alma to spend the night with my brother and do our "Christmas" with them and then we head to Bruce Mines the morning of Christmas Eve...it's going to be a busy week, but I am ready for it...I get to see the love of my life, my dad, most of my siblings, nieces and nephews and friends...Then Jason and I come back to K-W on the 27th, spend some time with Justine and Sean (and possibly other friends), so Jason can meet his niece Alexis FINALLY and then we are off to NY, he has to go back to work and I get to spend time with the rest of my family...I think we are pretty lucky to see so much family around the holidays this year, it doesn't always work out that way for us...

I got up early this morning and went shopping and managed to get about 85% done, I just have a couple more gifts to get but I know what I am getting, so I am not shopping blind and it should only take an hour one night this week after work to complete it! The big success for the day was getting all of my baking ingredients, so that means baking went in to full swing today...short bread, sugar cookies, ginger bread, turtle cookies, lemon squares and maybe some candy cane brownies...What can I say I love being in the kitchen :-)

Well I should get back to my baking, got lots to finish up before bed...I will post again soon, but if I fail and I don't get back before Christmas...I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Winter Wonderland!

Well winter finally came to town and so did my Christmas Spirit!

We had a little bit of snow, but nothing that made it feel like December...Well that all changed as of yesterday...we got a heck of storm...ice and snow everywhere! I love snow, I love when it's snowing, I love walking threw it on the ground, hell I even love to play in it (yep kid at heart)! But I hate, let me repeat that HATE cleaning off my car...This lovely storm had placed a nice layer of ice on my car, topped by an inch of snow, then an inch of ice and then an inch or more of nice fluffy snow! It took me 25 minutes to clean off my car this morning and the whole time I am standing outside freezing my butt off cursing out Rob and Sandy cause I know their cars are nice and warm and clean in their garage!!! I know I should have been happy for them, but it was Monday morning and I was running late before I had to clean my car off!!! The roads were pretty terrible today...very slippery! I watched a moving truck slide right past the street it was trying to turn down, which made me very thankful for my winter tires as I didn't slide once when trying to stop or start!!! So although I felt safe driving, I didn't feel too safe about the crazy people who don't know how to drive in snow and ice that were all around me...I hate driving in the city during bad weather...grrr...Anyways, the lovely snow on the ground has made me happy and made me feel like it's December...

I have been battling a cold/sore throat for over a week now, so my Christmas Spirit was dwindling , honestly my energy for anything was dwindling...I decided that it was one of those situations where I had to start doing "Christmasie" things or Christmas wasn't going to come this year...so yesterday I put up my tree, it looks so cute! I also set up all my house decorations which include Christmas candles, my nativity scene, stocking and Christmas ball center piece...So my house is officially Christmast! Jason and I also watched Nestor the Christmas Donkey and Frosty the Snowman, so that definitely helped my spirit! Today I went to the dollar store and got a bunch of decorations for my desk at work, cause the place I need the Christmas Spirit most is at work!

This is the little tree I got for my desk:

I think it's so cute...

Now that all my decorating is done I can focus on the shopping! I am a terrible procrastinator when it comes to present shopping and not just for Christmas...I have bought some gifts, but nothing major, mainly stocking stuffers for Jason and my dad...If anyone has any suggestions on how to make me a non procrastinating present buyer, I will take it!
